The Lusk 8th grade volleyball team traveled to Lingle for the SEWAC conference tournament last Saturday.
First up for the Lady Tigers were the hometown Lingle Doggers, and in this match the Tigers were defeated in 2 games by close scores of 22-25 and 22-25. Inconsistent serving and slow moving feet plagued the Tiger team, but to the Tigers credit the Lingle team played better than ever and had the advantage of playing on their home court. In previous meetings the Tigers had been able to come out on top every time.
Captains of the match were Bailyn Clark and Stevie Mellott. Serving 9 points to lead all scorers was Bailyn Clark. Next up for the Lady Tigers were the Burns Broncs, where the Tigers found themselves playing for 3rd or 4th place. The Tigers had previously faced the Broncs in Pine Bluffs and made quick work of them.
The Broncs proved to be tougher opponents on Saturday, but the Lady Tigers defeated them in 3 games by scores of 23-25, 25-22, and 25-19 to capture 3rd place honors.
Lexie Dockery and Amber Jensen were captains of the match. Emma Zerbe served 9 points with 2 aces and Bailyn Clark had 13 points with 3 aces. Amber Jensen had several assists to Lexie Dockery, Bailyn Clark, Lexi Blackburn, and Rachel Lashmett who all had kills.
The Lady Tigers coaches and players would like to thank their all their fans, their parents and families for all their support this season.
